OSSINING FOOD PANTRY
The OSSINING FOOD PANTRY is in need of volunteers to assist with distribution of food on Thursday evenings and Friday mornings, to assist with the donations and collections of food, to help bag the cans and packaged items on Wednesday evenings, to help with office duties and to distribute the food to shut-ins and local day care agencies. We, also, are in need of Spanish interpreters.
Our center is in the Trinity Episcopal Church Parish Hall on S. Highland Ave. in Ossining. In 2012, we served over 5200 households and an average of 150 households weekly. With the winter months coming on, the community will have more persons out of work and many of our clients are among the working poor as well as shut-ins, seniors and single parents with very limited incomes. Many times, hunger in a family is hidden from the general population; Our Ossining Food Pantry is trying to eliminate that hunger in the Ossining – Briarcliff area.
If you are interested in helping, please call the Ossining Food Pantry at 914-762-5510 or email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you in advance for considering this wonderful service to our community.

POPE JOHN PAUL II CALLED ORGAN DONATION
AN “ACT OF LOVE”.
The NY Organ Donor Network marks its 32nd anniversary this November. Currently, more than 7,000 New Yorkers and over 80,000 people nationwide are awaiting a life-saving transplant. While transplantation is a routine therapy for end-stage organ diseases, the need for organs far outweighs donations and 16 people die waiting for a lifesaving transplant every day.
One person can make a difference – one donor can save the lives of up to eight people and improve the lives of dozens of others through organ, bone, skin, and corneal transplants. Most major religions condone the act of donation, declaring it an excellent act of charity. However, family consent is required for donation. Therefore, it is imperative that you share your decisions with your family.
Please be a humanitarian and help save lives. Sign the back of your driver’s license or an organ donor card and carry it with you at all times. For more information on organ donor awareness, contact the New York Organ Donor Network at 1-800-GIFT-4-NY (1-800-443-8469) or visit their website at
